The Highland Neighborhood Association is proud to announce that one of their very own has been given the Vergie Reis Award. Vergie Reis is a lady who was in charge of the Neighborhood Associations. She is recognized as getting these associations started within the City of Beaverton. She started the Neighborhood office at City Hall, and then went on Staff at the City. Vergie Reis is now the City Manager for Forest Grove. This award is given to the Neighbor in the City of Beaverton who has greatly contributed to making the City a better place to live.
Marv Doty was the Chair for Highland Neighborhood Association the last two years, and is now the Neighborhood Rep for the Citizens Committee Involvement (CCI), from the Highland Area. Marv is a graduate of OSU, an engineer, a Consultant, Retired State Police Officer, Neighborhood activist, CCI Representative, on the board in keeping our park whole committee, works on the Optimist Club board, cleans up graffiti, works on the Highland Park clean ups, and Farmers market booths for the NAC's just to name a few. Marv has been very active in bringing the Beaverton Nacs together to work as a team in the betterment of Beaverton.
The pictures taken here show Mayor Rob Drake presenting Marv Doty this prestigious award. The Mayor was a graduate of U of O and needless to say the rivalry between the Ducks and Beavers was included in this award ceremony also. All in fun of course, and we do CONGRATULATE Marv on such a great accomplishment.
