Call to Order: 7:10 pm by Mike Dillon

Minutes: The February minutes were reviewed and approved with the following change. Mike Dillon made a motion to Shawn Blumberg to the attendance. The motion was approved.

Treasurer’s Report: Craig Bass presented the treasurer’s report. The checking account balance is $1381.40.

Police Report: Officer Mike Rowe with the Beaverton police gave an updated report of statistics in our neighborhood.

Beaverton Veterans Memorial Park: Bob Caufman and Gary Oswald from the American Legion gave a presentation on the Beaverton Veterans Memorial Park project. A memorial has been created at Memorial Park to commemorate the Veterans of all the services and all the wars, conflicts, and peace keeping missions since 1893 when Beaverton first became a city. The American Legion is raising money for the memorial by selling bricks for $75.00 each. Marv Doty made a motion to for Highland NAC to purchase two bricks for a total of $150. The motion was approved.

SOLV: Clee Ann Hart, SOLV volunteer coordinator, made a presentation on the numerous events that SOLV will be having in the next few months. A few of the events include: The Great Oregon Spring Beach Cleanup on Saturday, March 31, 2001 from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm. Another event on April 21st is SOLV IT, one of the largest Earth Day activities in the nation. During this event, SOLV cleans up illegal dumpsites and undertakes neighborhood enhancement projects throughout northwest Oregon. The SOLV Oregon Legacy Walk is an event to walk along Oregon’s entire coastline to benefit volunteerism in Oregon. That event is June 30th to August 19th. Beaverton Community Policing: Ron Weber, a community policing volunteer, gave an informative presentation on the community policing program. There are many opportunities to volunteer, some of which include graffiti clean-up, traffic safety support, bicycle safety, and Block Home. Nature Park Trail Project: Marv Doty gave a status report on the nature park trail project. The project has been successfully completed thanks to Dick Lukins and his core group of volunteers who put in over 1050 hours. The trail was named the Ponderosa Loop Trail after the Ponderosa Pine in the park. The park will be dedicated on April 28th.

CCI: Marv Doty gave an update on CCI activities and mentioned that there will be ordinance changes within the NACs. There are members of some NACs who are not residents of the city of Beaverton. The city council will vote to clarify the rules regarding NAC membership requirements. He also noted that CCI is a great information channel between the city and the neighborhoods. It allows the neighborhoods to have a good line of communication with the city.

Significant Tree Inventory: The city is completing an inventory of significant trees throughout Beaverton. The trees will be certified and registered with the city.

Hyland Forest Park: A committee was formed to develop project goals for Highland Forest Park. Committee members are as follows: Mike Dillon, Project/Grant Manager; Marv Doty, Project Engineer/Resource Advisor; Robert Hostetter, Park Steward; Dick Lukins, Park Steward, Allen Wells, THPR representative. The committee has reviewed the project goals and will soon begin work. The goals are as follows: 1) Removal of ivy and blackberries, 2) Trail enhancement. Mike Dillon requested volunteers for the project. The trail enhancement project has timeline of one year.
