Officer Mills passed around the stats for February and showed Larceny is high, however low compared to the rest of the City. There have been gang hangouts at Lombard and Highway 8 and being patrolled by unmarked police cars. Beaverton is also doing curfew sweeps. Unmarked cars driven by detectives are watching for car thefts.

TVF&R: Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue, with Captain Ken Dawson reported our neighborhood. We have been running about 100 calls a month over the last 6 months. He also reported since the pass of the levy a year ago TVF&R would be able to add an additional fire fighter per shift. However Station 67 will remain the same as they are already at the required OROSHA numbers for personal per shift. This will overall increase the efficiency by 60%. If you have any questions for the Fire department Captain gave out their email address: www.tvfr.com.

SORRENTO CIRCLE/HART RD: Joan reported she is working with the Operations officer and landscaper and traffic engineer at the City for plant beautification at Sorrento Circle and surrounding planters. She has a go ahead as long as the barrels are at least 2 feet from the curb and anything planted must be under 3ft in total height. The City also has a water source and will have a water meter for a hose for usage. She has submitted a letter to the City for Written final approval. The City will continue to maintain the existing plants and bark dust. Joan is asking for $350.00 for planting, however not all at once. This would be a start off then approximately about $100 yearly budget if that. She would also like to see a sign showing this if from and maintained by the NAC. Mar motioned that a budget be set up and Joan is able to start this project for the Sorrento Circle and the 3 islands. Discussion was opened. After discussion motion was seconded for $500.00. Denise offered three planters she would like to donate if we could use them. Mike called a vote: Vote passed unanimously.
BCCI Formerly CCI: (Beaverton Committee for Citizens Involvement) Marv opened to say thanks to all the wonderful people here that are involved in the NAC. He then mentioned the Neighborhood Clean Up for June 1st has a sign up sheet going around again and the afternoon is a little short of people. May 3rd is volunteer recognition night at City Hall. We also have the Farmers Market coming up, look for deals on sodas and water, we sell these with the cinnamon Rolls and the better the deal on the purchase the more monies we raise. Bill Young is present tonight and is on the planning commission. The planning commission would like all testimony and citizen involvement at the hearing, BCCI Recommended that the Denovo clause remain, however the City has revoked the denovo clause. When land use issues are noticed all neighbors within 500 feet will be notified and the neighbors will only have that hearing regarding the situation and issues at hand. Marv also announced what a great job Bob Tenner did an excellent job on the voters forum night. Mike Dillon talked about the Neighborhood recognition awards. He will be submitting for the Highland Forest Park for the trails and pond upgrades.
Washington County Fair Grounds: Rich Vial, An attorney, father of 13, husband and rancher is serving on the Washington County Fair board. He was asked to join the board about 6 years ago. He brought pictures advising of the Board's proposal on the Fair Grounds project renovation for $40 million. The board is looking at a bond measure to place on the ballot that would affect a $200,000 homeowner about $20.00 a year over a 20-year period. If the bond passes the Ball field and the armory will stay next to the Fair grounds. They will only tear down the buildings that are dangerous and too expensive to renovate. There will also be several upgrades. There will be 2 large conferences and 1 arena center with the rodeo area still available. If the bond passes in November they will be able to start construction in the spring. On May 1st the task force will be meeting for the information needed to gather for the November ballot. The next step will be finalizing the design. Tom Brian is the committee chair for the Fair grounds board. If you have any further questions, or need clarification please call Rich Vial at 503-684-4111.
Fir Grove Park: Bill Verhoef and Barbara Wilson will be writing the necessary information out for the sign needed for the park with the proper history. Barbara used the board to write out some information and opened it up for discussion. After several pertinent pieces were agreed on, it was suggested that Barbara and Bill get together to formalize the sign and bring it back to the NAC next month. The Park District would like to avoid the sign being in wood for graffiti purpose. Mike suggested we use masonry or brick for expense reasons. It was also suggested that the NAC reimburse the Fryers for the history research of $50.00, it was motioned and passed.
CALMING BUMPS: April 18th, Thursday at 7pm at Southridge High school in the conference room. This will be a meeting with neighbors regarding the upcoming calming bumps on Sorrento road. TVF&R has some concerns and will be open for questions, for neighbors.

Beaverton School/2nd Street: Mr. Kane spoke regarding land use issues regarding the 2nd street land that will be given to the Beaverton School District to use for a new cafeteria. Merle Davies school is being torn down and a new structure built so the existing land can be sued for a new cafeteria. Mr. Kane will be giving information to the City Council and planning commission regarding the plans, some issues are not complete with accurate information. Bill Young on the Planning Commission talked about the 2nd street right of way. Check out the Staff Report at the City Hall 2nd Floor office.
