Minutes: Minutes from the January were approved as corrected: Marv did 2nd the Bench for Roy Dancer donation.             

 

TREASURER:  Evan reported the balance is $3911.88. Cinnamon roll booth $500.00 for the year ;$2500.00 reimbursement from City for Highland Park was received. Clean up day $1280.00 for the year.  Expenses Picnic, Sorrento Circle improvement,  Fir Grove Park Plaque.

 

Roy Dancer Bench:  Evan said that the West Beaverton sent a Thank you letter regarding the Bench donation.  On April 26th, Saturday 10AM ,at Roy Dancer Park, the installation of this Bench and dedication will take place.  All are welcomed and encouraged to join us.

 

BCCI: Marv reported that  (Beaverton City for Citizens Involvement), has a new staff of officers for 2003, Marv is the new Chairman, and they now have a 5 member executive committee. Planning commission has an advisory board that has 3 members from BCCI that serve.  This will give BCCI a heads up on all planning issues.  Bob Tenner is the Vice Chair this year for the Washington County CCI.  March 3rd the City Council will look and review new bylaws that the BCCI now have to work with.  Vergie Reese award in May coming up we need to look at this.  June 7th the City Yard Clean Up will occur at City Hall.  BCCI is currently working on a Manuel for land use issues, Mar would like to see this available by mid-year.

 

Senior Advisory Committee:  Looking for citizens to serve on this board. Please contact Mayors office. This is a Committee for Senior Issues.  Advisory board to the Mayor, Thank you to Don Jarman who is currently serving on this board.

 

EMAIL- there has been an email list started that the NAC uses to update people on issues and meeting minutes.  If you would like to be on the list please contact Craig Bass at 503-643-5750.  This list is used by the Highland NAC only.

 

Evan Lloyd to send out thank you note to Oregon Rock for the donation of the installation of the rock at Fir Grove park.  There will be a ribbon ceremony this spring, date to follow.

 

WEBSITE; Mr. Wilson brought up to add a picture of the Plaque-Rock at Fir Grove to the Website, Craig to contact Steve for update.   Bill Verhoef brought all new neighbors up to date on the park plaque.

 

POLICE:  John McCally had stats with comparison from 2001 to 2002. General Thefts are down and home thefts down.  Murder, Rape is also down by 51% in our Neighborhood. Vandalism is down 22% in Highland, with an overall decrease 44% in crimes in general. Several questions were brought up about abandon vehicles.  Bob recommended that neighbors call the Code office at the City.

 

Picnic:  It was brought to the board that what is the purpose of the Picnic? Can we improve it?  Marv suggested that a committee be formed regarding ideas and suggestions regarding a Picnic.  Evan suggested the expenses are increasing and the work on it is very extensive. Dean Wilson motioned that we set up a committee of 6 people for Picnic discussion, Marv 2nd it.  Dean , Barbara, Tammy, Marv, Evan, Don and Bob Tenner, will be on the committee, this will be added to the website after something is decided.

 

SATURDAY MARKET:  Cinnamon Roll Booth, Marv has been approached to run the Saturday Farmers market from April to October.  We would set a schedule; we would receive $15.00 for every Saturday just for managing this.  We would also negotiate the cinnamon rolls we sell (purchased by whoever we deem suitable). If agreed to we need to set up a committee.  Evan motioned for a small committee to be set up and Tammy 2nd.  Evan Lloyd will chair this committee, Craig, Elva and Joan will be on the committee.

 

MAILING LIST:  Update and improve the mailing list to the Highland Neighbors. Marv also suggested a phone tree set up by blocks.  We also need to prepare a newsletter to hand out and meet our neighbors.

 

UPCOMING:  Bylaws for review next month.
