WEBSITE:  Steve Greenberg, one of our neighbors, has stepped up to the plate and will be our new web master.  Steve reported that there would be a $25.00 a year to create and keep a website domain name www.highlandnac.org. There would also be a one time set up charge of $50.00.  Marv motioned and Bill seconded to open and maintain our own website and domain name as above.  Board approved the above motion and budget.  Steve will open and maintain this site.  After we are on line we will contact The Valley Times, link to City Neighborhood office and link to email with a telephone tree.

MAYORAL ADDRESS:  Mayor Rob Drake, City of Beaverton, stated Crime stats in the last 6 months had decreased about 19% overall.  The peak time in Beaverton is 2pm to 2am, with this bell curve the Police Department has been able to work accordingly to cover the City appropriately.   FBI Stats on City’s for 2001 puts Beaverton in 70th out of 342.  Beaverton is also the safest city in Oregon with population above 37,000.  Mayor Drake also said Peer Court is continuing to be successful with our minors.  The Crime is also down with the help of the Landlord/Tenant Program that meets monthly in each area of the City.  This is where managers can network and find solutions to potential problems.  If you have an abandon car problem please call the City hotline 503-350-4058 or the traffic hotline at 503-350-4009.  Mayor Drake also commented on how well the BCCI is doing.  This is a great bunch of people working with the City agencies and the Neighborhood Associations to solve and educate people on land use issues and many other agency topics.  The City also offers a neighborhood mediation service.  This service is available to all Beaverton residents who work with trained certified (40 hours) neighbors to help resolve various problems.  The City has much to offer, please check out their website www.ci.beaverton.or.us.  The Farmers Market and the City Library with the park have been a great success to bring the community together.  The Round development phase II will begin soon.  Hanging baskets will be out again this summer and the beautification project will start this year on Farmington.  Thank you Mayor for your time to talk to the Highland Neighborhood.

SORRENTO/HART RD CIRCLE:  Joan needs a budget for this year.  Looking for annuals for the barrels and a committee to put in native evergreens and plants.  There is a height restriction by the City of 3ft for any plants in the circle.  Marv made a motion to set up a committee and a budget for this year of $500.00.  Dean Seconded and Board approved.  Shawn would like to know of any dates for planting, as he will get volunteers for Joan.  Marv also suggested looking to the Nature Park for plants and working with Tualatin Hills Park & Rec or even donations by nurseries.

BENCH:  In Honor of Roy Dancer, a park bench with a cost of about $1,000.00, will be placed in Roy Dancer Park.  This park is behind Rite Aid at Murray and Allen.  Evan made a motion that the NAC donate $200.00 along with other NAC’s and Clubs to contribute to the Bench. Motioned approved and carried.
