Call to order 7PM by Craig Bass

 

Minutes approved as corrected: Tammy resigned as picnic chair is actually in this meeting was not fully done at last meeting.  Highland Forest Project is spelled Hyland.

 

Beaverton Police: Officer MaCaulay was present.  He reported that the stats for crime are down 97% and accidents are down 66%.

 

Clean Up day:  June 7th Saturday:  Please sign up for the clean up day there are many spots.  This is a great fundraiser for our neighborhood.

 

Saturday Market:  Our first one is this Saturday May 10th.  The booth is Hall and Watson from 8am to 2pm.  Set up will be Marv and Craig from 6am on.  There will be a sign up sheet sent around.  Marv reported that we would be working with Beaverton Bakery for the cinnamon rolls.

 

Treasurer’s Report: Evan reported that our bank balance is $3,811.88.  Evan also spoke about the scholarship applications he will be picking up at Southridge, Beaverton and Aloha High Schools.  Evan will also be making a donation at the Food Bank on Monday, May 12.  Evan also asked who would be able to read over the scholarships and Dean, Joan and Jeff volunteered to help.

 

TVR&R; Fire department reported 1600 calls at the Farmington Station 67; they are 24hours on and 48 hours off.  Busiest calls are fire, EMSm hazardous spills, and accidents.  Please keep grass cut short to prevent fires.  Store flammables in special containers and check for leaks

 

SUMMER:  Craig brought up discussion that the NAC meetings for July and August board will not be held. Marv made a motion that the board have a last meeting in June and set a date for start up in September.  Dori 2nd the motion. Board passed.

 

Roy Dancer Park Bench:  Great turn out and well attended.  650 invites went out. Marv, Evan and Jack installed the Bench.  There will be a rock with a plaque installed at a later date. Tents and Coffee was donated by Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation District.

 

BCCI; Marv reported that 3 members and an alternate are on the Advisory Board.  Bob Tenner is the Vice Chair for Washington County Board.  The Beaverton Board is working on a power point presentation for the neighborhood Associations for Land Use Issues.  Marv also noted that Highland Neighborhood is receiving several awards please attend the Volunteer Recognition at City Hall tomorrow night 7pm.

 

Picnic:  It is too late for planning a picnic and receiving authorization this year.  This is the reason that Tammy has resigned from the picnic committee this year.  We need at least 6 months for planning.  It was brought up that we have a volunteer recognition picnic.  It was also brought up that the City is having a picnic at Schiffler Park.

 

Budget Committee:  Dean Wilson reported that the items that are to be discussed are the Banner at City Hall and a separate flag for outdoor use.  Craig reported that the price is about $400 for a banner at City Hall.  Craig and Jeff will be meeting and will come back in June with more information.  Craig and Marv will look into the banner for other activities.  Dean made a motion that the NAC allocate two, $250.00 awards to Fir Grove and Highland Middle School.  Barbara 2nd the motion, all in favor so passed.  Marv met with Gene for a multi purpose award showcase that is 4’ x 4’ or 6” with a portable open and sealed suitcase type display.  Dean made a motion that we allocate $100 for the building of this display case. Barbara 2nd, vote to board so carried.

 

Fir Grove: The dedication of the Fir Grove Plaque and Rock with THP&RD should come together this summer.  We would invite the City, Board, Neighbors and the Valley Times. Mr. Walsh called Marv regarding wanting to attend this meeting.  Marv made a motion that we set a committee with Marv and Bill for a dedication of the Fir Grove Plaque. Motion 2nd by Barbara board so voted and carried.

 

Newsletter by Joan will have an update with her neighbor Jill to help her produce a brochure for the Highland Neighborhood activities.  Don, Craig and Joan will bring ideas to the board in June.

 

New Business:  Garbage pick up in our neighborhood. While Joan was out with her Dog she noticed that quit of garbage needed to be picked up around.  While your out help out.  Shawn brought up that possible a clean up litter day be organized.  Marv said the schools have the responsibility to clean up there area also.
