Call to order 7:10PM by Craig Bass

Minutes: Were reviewed and approved as written for May.

 

Tualatin Valley Fire Dept:  This Saturday June 12, 2004, Fire Station on Farmington is there Open House.  Check your screens and windows they have already seen children falling out of 2nd story windows.  Be aware of BBQ safety.  

 

Beaverton Police: Officer Beane had some stats for us to review.  Auto Theft is down, but can be on the rise during the summer months.  Vandalism is a little elevated.  Be aware of the panhandlers, after talking to them they use this money for drugs, according to some interviews that have been conducted.  They are also watching and monitoring the Max station due to increase travel.

 

 Treasurer Report:   $3,484.81 is the balance per Dean Wilson. This is after we made $500 donation to the Oregon Food Bank.  We have also and will be giving out tonight a $750 scholarship donation.

 

Marv Doty announced from the Beaverton CCI, that Evan Lloyd will be receiving the Vergie Reese Award and the Highland NAC will be receiving an award for the scholarship program in place.  The Land Use Manual is in its final phase. Bob Tenner said we grossed $3,000 plus for the Neighborhood cleans up.  This is down approximately 2,000 from last year.   

 

Mailing List:  Per Craig the new mailing list that is being adopted by the City of Beaverton people need to reply to. The City is encouraging people to use Email, and will start this procedure in October.  Any mailing list information that you have please get back to the City with feedback. 

 

Calling Tree: Elva has set up her black with people and phone numbers.  The Police will be calling the Tree captain who is Elva for her block and then be reported throughout the block.  Any concerns of suspicious activity or people will call block captain and then the Police.  She already has 14 people on this list.  Call Elva if you would like to start a

 

T-Shirts:  Jeff discussed the t-shirts of the forest green polo’s and the board discussed that the shirts for the board and volunteers the board would pay for them.  We will check the minutes for the approval of these shirts paid for.  $35 for screen set up.  Need to have minimum of 24 shirts which we will have no problem meeting.  Marv made a motion that we will purchase 24.  Dean made a motion to change it to 50.  It was suggested that we purchase lg and xtr lg.  Ordering the 50 it will cost us $10.10.  Marv would like to amend Dean’s motion and cut it back to 40 shirts.  Barbra 2nd this motion.  Discussion opened.  Voted and passed   Jeff Passed around a list to be updated.

 

Sorrento Circle:  Someone went through the center of the circle and there is a down tree.  Also some Calla Lilies have been stolen from the circle.

 

Evan announced that Vincent from Beaverton High School graduated with a 3.4, school volunteer, activities in several clubs, black belt, rose festival floats, feeding the homeless, and honors in several academic achievements. He is planning on a double major.

 

Mayor Drake spoke with us this evening. Law enforcement great department with a good Chief Dave at the helm. 52% of calls are Police initiated. They believe in being proactive. Safest City in the US by the FBI stats rated us this last year at 47th in the Nation. C>E>R>T Community Emergency Response Team is available classes through Ted Morris by contacting the Neighborhood Office. Photo Radar is continuing to be successful. City of Beaverton will be adding an additional 4 more photo radar sites. Peer Court continues to be successful with Lawyers acting as the judges. Durnbock Property just closed on the property at 170th and has ended up with 8 acres and will partner with the Parks department for trails and reservoir. The City is in its third year with Picnic in the Parks. City Hall is still working on returning calls within 24 hours. Your City Newsletter continues to be mailed out and more information available on line with their website. Denny Rd has been under construction and have been replacing both sewer and storm drain system. Paving will be done when all underground work in complete. The Hall Blvd Bike lanes widening of Allen and Hall blvd, this is still about a decade away due to several problems with land on all corners. The City is looking to shift the money for this to another project. Oregon State Law effective July 1, 2004 school zones with the 20mph speed will now be 24 hours a day 7 days a week, not just when children may be present. The new signage will be very specific. The Mayor also invited questions, and opened it for discussion.

 

Dessert In the Park- a motion was made that the Nac approve $250 budget for this social.  This will be Sunday August 8th at Fir Grove Park on 22nd and 130th.

 

Board Planning-Marv made a motion to start a committee to nominate new officers for next year.  Mar Doty, Bill Chow, Craig Bass and Bill Young will be the committee.
