POLICE REPORT - given by Officer Scott Burke. Identity theft remains a large problem for Beaverton Police. Fraud frequently begins with mail theft.

VOTE TAKEN
MOTION: Barbara Wilson made a motion that the scholarship check be held until we get a letter of acceptance from the student's educational institution and then the check would be made payable to that institution. Seconded by Leigh Hunt.
VOTE (yes): Jeff Menzel, Marv Doty, Bill Young, Bob Tenner, Barb Wilson, Leigh Hunt, Dean Wilson, Juanita Coparanis. VOTE (nay): Craig Bass.
VOTE TAKEN:
AMENDMENT TO THE MOTION: A motion was made by Bill Young to reconsider the motion just passed. Seconded by Marv Doty. The motion was amended that further investigation needed to be made to determine what would happen if there was overpayment for tuition, and could the student use the

scholarship money for books and miscellaneous other school expenses.
MOTION PASSED unanimously.
ACTION ITEM: Jeff Menzel will call Bonnie Heaton at the school district and inquire how we can guarantee that the scholarship check will be used for college-related expenses and if the tuition is overpaid by several scholarships, how could the student receive the over payment.
MATCHING FUNDS FROM THE CITY GRANT APPLICATION: It was agreed by consensus and a straw poll that the NAC did not support a project proposal to seek matching funds from the city.
BCCI: Craig Bass said there had been no meeting of BCCI because of the holidays.
MISCELLANEOUS:
1. Jeff Menzel announced that Mayor Rob Drake will be at the NAC meeting next month.
2. Jeff Menzel asked if the NAC wanted to invite pro and con speakers regarding the upcoming school bond. It was consensus that we did not want to schedule speakers regarding the school bond because this will be presented at the BCCI Voter's Forum.
