APPROVAL OF APRIL MINUTES:        Minutes of 04/13/06 approved by consensus.

 

TREASURER'S REPORT - reported by Dean Wilson, Treasurer

            Bank balance 05/11/06   $ 1,628.16

                                                -        750.00  for scholarship - funds committed

GUEST SPEAKER:  Officer Scott Burke gave a general report on HNAC police activity.

 

GUEST SPEAKER:  Betty Bode, City Council member,  gave a review of her work on the

Beaverton City Council and her qualifications for re-election.  Questions and Answers

period followed.    Robert Burke, Betty Bode's opponent, had been invited to attend the

HNAC meeting. He accepted the invitation, but then later declined.  He was invited to submit a

resume of professional qualifications. He said he would do so, but nothing was received. 

 

 

BCCI Report:  Craig Bass gave the BCCI Report.  June 3 is Beaverton Clean-up Day.  

If a volunteer worker is not older than 16 years old, he must have permission signed

by his/her guardian. Advertising funds are not available.  Jeff distributed a sign-up

sheet for volunteers to work for Clean-up Day and make money for the NAC.

BEAVERTON FARMERS' MARKET:  Opens May 13.  Jeff  distributed a sign-up sheet.  Training

will occur on Mary 13 for HNAC volunteers to learn how to set-up and tear-down. 

Set-up opens 6:45 am, tear-down at 1:30 - 1:45 pm.

Old/New Business: 

  • Marv Doty gave a report that Moji would not be opening the rehab center at

      SW Main and Allen Blvd. as previously announced.  The building will be used as a business office

      with two renters.

 

  • Marv Doty announced that he will present Andrea Menzel the $750 scholarship check

      at Beaverton High School on June 1. 

 

  • Bill Young reported that he had visited with city staff regarding the Bylaws changes.  The changes

      had not yet been reviewed by the City Attorney.  This matter should be on the agenda for the June

      HNAC meeting and will require a formal vote.  We will need a quorum.

 

  • Subcommittee chosen to nominate HNAC officers for next year:  Craig Bass, Jeff Menzel, Mike Powell.
  •  
  • Safety Seminar for Seniors:  May 18, 9 am - 12 noon, Beaverton Community Center

 

  • AAUW Used Book Sale at old Lazerquick facility at Cedar Hills Shopping Center, begins May 12.
